A little bit about Wanda.......................

I feel as though I’ve been an artist my whole life.  Painting is my passion and has been since I can remember.  Painting is who I am.  If I stopped, I would stop being me.  I love being able to fill the world with beauty.  This world is so full of darkness, pain and suffering.  To be able to add a little light, joy and beauty is very fulfilling.
I’ve been a working as a fulltime professional artist for the last 3 years.  My husband is my biggest fan!  He loves my work and encourages me every step of the way.  In fact, he bought 4 paintings before we even started dating!

Inspirations..............
My preferred media is acrylic along with various mediums that produce texture.  Texture in nature is amazing!  I love to replicate all the textures I see.  Tree bark and leaves are favorites of mine.

Frustrations......
It's hard not being able to exactly replicate what is in my mind. The paintings I love are the ones that flow out of my brain easily.  At times, I have an image in my head and I'm just not be able to get it out exactly the way I want to.

The routine...........
I try to always paint first thing in the morning before I do anything.  Painting is a right brain activity and since it isn’t easy for me to transition from left to right brain activity, I start with right brain activities first thing.  A typical day for me is painting from 9am until 3:30pm.  I work on  marketing myself from 3:30 to 6:00pm.

Advice for the up and coming artist.............
To be an artist in this day and age, I think one should learn how to use the computer and get seen online. An artist needs an audience the same way a musician needs an audience. Being online gives you immediate feedback and is a great way to connect with art lovers worldwide.

If Wanda could go back in time......
I’d like to go back and visit with the impressionists!  They were definitely movers and shakers for their time period.  I love that they were really the first to express themselves in a much looser form, despite the criticism.  They continued to paint the way they wanted to and eventually their audience found them and loved what they did.
