How long have you been an artist?  I started painting seriously in 2002 but have done other forms of art my whole life.

Why are you an artist?
I can’t help but be an artist.  Painting is my favorite thing in a world and art has given my life a point in what would be an otherwise be a pointless life.

Is there one particular artist or any person that helped you along way? A role model?  A source of encouragement?
I went by way of Klimt.  If it wasn’t for my intense affection and appreciation for his work I probably never would have discovered my own vision.

What is your favourite medium?  I am self taught and so limited in my experimentation with mediums.  I started with acrylic paint and I continue to work only in acrylics.

Do you have a ritual that you go through before, after or during the creative process?  Something that helps you work?
No.  It really depends on the mood I am in on any given day.  Sometimes I paint to books on tape and work in a really clean studio.  Other times I drink so much wine I mentally leave my body and that can be really liberating as well.

Have you ever felt like giving up?  If so, what kept you going?
No, I have never felt like giving up.  It is the exact opposite feeling that I find so motivating and that makes me continue on with art.

To someone who wants to travel the path you’re traveling, do you have any advice?
A lot of people want to be artists and a lot of people make art.  If you want to succeed the only advice I can offer is to take the time and intellect to make really good art.  Study old masters.  Give yourself intense critiques.  Just because you made a painting and you like it doesn’t mean it is good art – at least to me it isn't.

As an artist, what is your biggest source of frustration?  That my hands still cannot reproduce exactly what is in my mind.

As an artist, what's your biggest source of satisfaction?  Having people say my work is beautiful.

If you could visit a certain period of history to observe the art and artists, which era would you choose and why?  Wow.  That is a really hard question to answer.  There are so many artists and time periods I would like to witness first hand.  I am obsessed with the Italian Renaissance and would love to go back to that time.  However, if I truly get to make only one selection it rould have to be 19th century Austria.  Both Klimt and Schiele have had such an immense impact on me as an artist so I think it would only be appropriate that I go back to study the men whose work has led me to where I am today.
